The name La Manna entered the fruit industry back in 1972 when Pat La Manna began wholesaling bananas in Melbourne.

La Manna Bananas is today recognised Australia wide with millions of bananas carrying the La Manna label each year.

La Manna Fresh - Brunswick

Pat also had interests in the retail sector, establishing a number of stores throughout Melbourne. He took pride in supplying the public with the best and freshest produce available.

As Pat’s wholesale business grew, he decided to concentrate more of his efforts on this area. He sold a number of his retail stores, but held on to one in Sydney Road, Brunswick.

His nephews Tom, Pat and Vince operated the store. However, in 1993 Pat felt that if he was going to successfully take his banana business Australia wide, he needed the help of his nephews. That is when he approached long time friend and fruiterer Joe Patti and asked if he would take over his shop. Of course….he said “Yes”.
